Today I’m back with another post for the “In the Spotlight” series however I thought I would be a little bit crazy and do a drugstore brand with Maybelline. Now I’m not normally a drugstore kind of girl. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good bargain and there are definitely some real gems in the drugstore but I do prefer my high end products. However, over several trips to Priceline through the years, I seem to have accumulated quite a bit of Maybelline stuff that I thought I would share with you all today. I decided I would break them down into a few categories instead this time and talk about a few of my favourite products rather than individual products as there is quite a lot to get through.

Eyes:

If you haven’t heard of the Eyestudio 24hr Colour Tattoos obviously you’ve not just been living under a rock, you’ve probably been living on Mars. When it comes to cream eyeshadows at the drugstore Maybelline are absolutely killing it! There are currently 7 permanent shades in the collection available in Australia however, they do tend to bring out limited edition shades every now and then. In terms of eyeliner, Maybelline’s Lasting Drama Gel Liner is a cult favourite and applies smoothly and pigmented across the lid. Mascara wise, “The Falsies Black Drama” is my be all and end all, my holy grail and the Romeo to my Juliette (I got a bit carried away..) of mascaras. I have been using this mascara since it first came out and I heard Tanya Burr raving on about it and I have not looked back ever since. Like the name suggests, it really does look like it gives you false lashes, adding both length and volume whilst holding a curl (which I find is quite hard to do with my lashes).

Face:

To be quite honest with you, I haven’t really used too many Maybelline face products which is quite strange for me considering I am a complete base junkie. Their latest foundation release “Superstay Better Skin” intrigued me so I thought I better pick it up however I haven’t worn it enough times to really give a thorough verdict. But, from the few times that I have worn it I have enjoyed it. Another beauty cult classic is the Age Rewind Concealer and I must say I have jumped on that bandwagon too. This is a really great product to use for under your eyes. The sponge applicator allows you to apply a fairly thin layer of product underneath your eyes and blends like a dream to conceal those pesky dark circles.

Cheeks and Brows:

As you can probably tell by the photo, the Fit Me Blush in Medium Pink has received quite a lot of love over the years. It is a really gorgeous everyday peachy pink colour that you can wear all year round. Additionally, I also really enjoy using the Fit Me Foundation stick in the shade 330 to contour with. If you would like to see a more in depth tutorial about how I contour and highlight, I will leave a link here. This product is really easy to work with and blends nicely into the skin to give you a really natural look.

Nails and Lips:

As you can probably see I don’t really own much in the way of lips however the Baby Lips deserve a mention as everyone and their Mum probably uses them. I personally only own the clear version however, I know that in the US and I think now in Australia there are tinted versions available. On the other hand though, I absolutely LOVE the Colour Show Nail Polishes. Altogether there are 29 normal shades as well as 4 in their Bleached Neons Collection and 4 in the Show Street Artist Collection. The colour selection of these polishes are amazing and they apply amazingly too. The formula is fast drying and generally only needs 2 coats for an opaque finish. What’s best of all though is that they’re only $6 each which, for nail polish in Australia is a complete steal!

What are some of your favourite Maybelline products?

  1. I love Maybelline stuff & never have any huge complaints, however of late I seem to be drifting away from it altogether – I can’t believe I still haven’t tried the Colour Tattoo! This has inspired me to add a few more Maybelline products to my shopping basket, I’m intrigued with the concealer as I’m currently finding the Collection one a little too ‘cakey’ for me unfortunately. Great post 🙂 Karen x

  2. Maybelline is for sure one of my favourite drugstore brands! They just seem to produce amazing products all round. I use the colour tattoo in Bad to the Bronze so often, and the Fit me concealer is one of my faves. I recently bought the bleached neon polish in Sun Flare and I’ve been loving that one as well!

  4. I am a high end lover like you! I rarely buy drugstore prods anymore (other than mascara or polish) but baby lips is one of my fav lip balms 😊 will be trying the colour tattoo eyeshadows now. I need to stop reading your posts, they’re draining my bank account! Lol xx

  5. I have most of the products you discussed and I Completely agree with everything you’ve said! I haven’t tried the foundation stick in a darker shade as a contour but it definitely seems like a great idea! Also looks like a bit of a dupe for the tarte ‘the sculptor.’ I should give it a go! Also, ‘barely branded’ colour tattoo makes an amazing base! I love them too!
