Everyday Makeup meets Project Pan

My current everyday makeup. Dior BB creme, Maybelline Fit Me blush in ‘medium pink’, Sephora Mineral Powder in D35, Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ mascara, Benefit Gimme Brow, Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof liner, Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer and semple sizes of Benefit Porefession and Smashbox Photo FInish primer.

So quite recently, I had a bit of a clean out of my makeup collection -with a bit of help- and discovered that I had quite a lot of products that I’d hit pan on or were half empty. After pooling all these products together, my friend suggested that I participate in what is known as “Project Pan”. Project Pan, is where you aim to finish as many already opened products or products that you’ve ‘hit pan’ on before you go out and buy new ones. This has been quite a challenge for me so far as -if you can’t tell by the title of this blog- I am a true makeup hoarder. However, over the past couple of weeks, I have definitely been enjoying using these products as they had been somewhat neglected in my collection.

My everyday face products.

My everyday face products. On their last legs! – Dior BB creme, Sephora Mineral Powder and Maybelline Fit Me Blush.

Sadly, I am on the very last drops of my Dior BB creme! This is an amazing product. It is quite a runny consistency but glides over the skin to give a slightly dewy, but really natural look. It can be applied with your hands or a brush but my favourite way is with a makeup sponge. Because I have oily/combination skin, I get quite shiny in my T-zone area so more times than not I have been using the Sephora Mineral Powder which I also really enjoy! It is very finely milled and once applied to the face just seems to blur out any imperfections as well as providing a little bit of coverage. On my lazy days, I will sometimes just apply concealer in places I need it and set it with the mineral powder for a very natural makeup look. The other three face products – concealer, bronzer and blush – have also been a nice addition to my everyday makeup and they’re all drugstore products (yay!). The Maybelline ‘Dream Lumi’ concealer is a light and very blendable consistency and is amazing for highlighting under the eyes to make you look more awake. I think I will be repurchasing this as I have been really impressed with the formula of this product. The Rimmel ‘Natural Bronze’ bronzer is great for the summer time to add a bit of tan to your face without making it look muddy or orange. Although you can’t see the pan yet, I think I’m very close! And finally, the Maybelline Fit Me blush in ‘medium pink’. I remember buying this blush way back when I started getting into makeup and absolutely loving it. I think I would wear it almost everyday! But now after bringing it back for Project Pan, I’m not sure I love it as much as I used to. The colour is a beautiful peachy pink with a bit of shimmer but the pigmentation and colour payoff is inferior to the other drugstore blushes I own such as the Milani Baked Blush in ‘Luminoso’ or NYX blush in ‘Desert Rose’.

More Project Pan products!

More Project Pan products and my new Ted Baker makeup bag which I think is really cute!

Here are a couple more products that have been nominated for Project Pan. I am absolutely loving Smashbox Photo Finish primer and will definitely repurchase the full size. For those oily/combo skin gals out there, this is a must try! However, I’m still on the fence about the Benefit Porefessional . Yes I know, pretty much everyone and their Mum love’s it. It’s nice and it does its job, but I think I may have found a product I love more! I have also been trying -as part of Project Pan- to start using eyeshadow more. I am quite lazy when it comes to wearing eyeshadow and will usually skip this step in the morning, but recently I have been trying to use this Revlon Eyeshadow Quad in Decadent. For brows I have been using the Benefit Gimme Brow which is nice for those days when you’re in a rush but still want to look a little bit more put together. Which is me basically every day I have to go to uni… Finally, I have been using the Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion waterproof mascara in conjunction with my all time favourite mascara – Maybelline ‘The Falsies’ which separates and lengthens my lashes really nicely.

So that basically wraps up my everyday makeup look, if you have any other recommendations please feel free to leave a comment so I can try them too!

  1. I know how you feel, I neglect so many good products, because I find ones that I like better and completely forget about the others! It’s like discovering new treasures when I occasionally go through and look and the little things I’ve set aside! 🙂 That blush looks SO beautiful for summertime! And that BB cream looks lovely!

  5. Great post! I love the idea of Project Pan! It’s really made me realise I need to do this more definitely. It’s hard when there’s so many amazing new products always coming out! But it definitely makes sense to go through your own products first and think do I really need another or do I have a perfectly good one at home I can use?! For me I think it’s blushers and eyeshadows, I have tonnes to go through first so I need to stop purchasing more until I have used them up!

    • Thanks so much for reading it and I’m glad you enjoyed it! I agree, often we tend to neglect things we already have for the shiny new ones but it’s nice to go back every now and again to find some old favourites and appreciate the things we already have! xx

Hi Izzy, great post, I have oily/combination skin as well and was thinking of purchasing the benefit primer for a long time. If the smashbox one is better I might go for it then. I do struggle with primers, seems I cannot find the one! 🙂

    • Thanks so much for reading, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I personally think that both the Benefit and Smashbox ones are good however, I’ve recently found two others that I have been really loving – L’Oreal Skin Perfection and the Hourglass Mineral Veil (this one is a bit pricier but is definitely worth it!) I think primers are just one of those things you really need to try and see what works best for your skin though but I hope you have some luck and hopefully my recommendations help in some way! 🙂

  7. Hi Izzy!

Thank you for the Follow 🙂

Have you ever tried the Younique 3D Fiberlash Mascara? From one beauty lover to another this is a must try product.

I was a true skeptic but with some convincing gave it a shot and I have never looked back.

I did a review on the product a while ago if you want to check it out and I recently became a Younique Presenter.

If you have time head over to my website http://www.youniqueproducts.com/kennalongiye and take a look at the products they offer.

If you are interested in trying the 3D fiber lashes or earning money for free makeup by hosting an online party let me know and we can talk further.
